The Angel Hotel
Sponsors of Sportsman of the Year
The Angel Hotel is found on the Market Harborough High Street and is an establishment that is very much at the heart of the local community.
The building is a former coaching inn that dates back to the 16 th century. Over the years, the building has been revamped numerous times and now includes 28 en-suite rooms with 21 st century comforts, all whilst retaining much of the original charm and character.
There are rooms available that cater for every need: executive doubles, doubles, twins and singles. The most recent addition to the facilities has been the ‘The Attic Room’, which has been created by merging two rooms into one large family space.
Darren Barton, The Angel Hotel’s manager, is a rugby enthusiast. This passion is reflected in the number of live Rugby Union and international matches shown faithfully in the hotel’s bar area. The licensed bar is open all day – seven days a week – and is a popular Harborough meeting spot.
Whilst rugby does almost always come first, their sport offerings do not stop there. The large HD screens and comfortable seating leads the hotel to show a variety of sports including football, cricket, formula one, tennis and athletics. For major sporting events such as the World Cup and Olympics, the hotel’s bar area has proved a popular port of call for locals wanting to watch with a great atmosphere.
A pro-Harborough outlook has seen the hotel support plenty of initiatives in the town – from Arts Fresco to late night shopping, The Angel is behind or involved in most things that happen. A strong association with Brooke House College – who have developed into a centre of sporting excellence – has even led to well-known athletes staying at the hotel, including some world record holders.
The Angel Hotel is delighted to be sponsoring the Sportsman of the year category again.
